Janie Decker Wallace passed away in Midland on March 30th, 2022. She was born September 4, 1926 in Fort Worth, Texas to Mary Neely and Westbrook B. Decker. Janie was the youngest of five children. She met her husband of 58 years, Bruce Wallace, while attending Arlington High School where she was a cheerleader and Business Manager of The Colt. After graduating in 1944 she attended NTAC now University of Texas, Arlington.
She married Bruce Wallace June 19, 1948 and spent the next 3 decades traveling the world as a military officer’s wife and mother to three children. Janie and Bruce moved 36 times during their marriage. He preceded her in death in 2006.
She is survived by daughter Sharon (Joel) McMains of Fort Worth, son Steve (Lee) Wallace of Midland and daughter Valerie (Alan) Hale of Midland and her beloved grandchildren Mark (Emily) Wallace of Grand Prairie, Matthew (Amber) Wallace of Midland, Tyler (Kathleen) Hale of Keller, Neely McMains of Ft. Worth, Ryan Hale of Midland, Megan (Sean) Trotter of Odessa and J. P. McMains of Ft. Worth. She is also survived by her adorable great-grandchildren: Ian, Cole and Shane Wallace, Liam and Maeve Trotter and Maddie and Luke Wallace.
Janie loved her family, the Texas Rangers, Hershey’s chocolate and Coca Cola! Her sense of humor and generosity will be remembered by all. She requested no service, visitation and most of all no open casket…as Janie said, “I have to assume if I am dead, I may not look my best.”
There will be a Christian graveside service and burial in Santa Anna, TX at a future date.
