Janice Virginia Wheat Vandever, 90, passed away on February 15, 2015, at her home in Midland.She was born on July 8, 1924, in Ranger, Texas to Jewel Garland and Marie Williams Wheat. She was a graduate of Odessa High School and married Hobart Lee Vandever on March 28, 1943. Making their home in Odessa, they raised 3 daughters and a set of twin sons. In 1981, they retired to Tow, Texas near Lake Buchanan. Janice was a faithful Christian, hard worker, calm in any situation, always content and was known for her witty sense of humor. She enjoyed church activities, her neighbors, playing 42, sewing, quilting, working in her yard and garden and watching sports. Some of their favorite times were spent with kids and grandkids at the lake, as well as seeing much of the U.S. with family and friends in their RV. Janice moved to Midland in 2005 after the death of her husband to be near her children. Janice had many friends she loved at these Churches of Christ she attended during her life: Eisenhower in Odessa, Buchanan Dam and Golf Course Road in Midland.Janice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, James Wheat and Bill Wheat and a sister, Mildred Birdsong Mullins. Also, Janice was preceded in death by her grandson, Ryan Kent Vandever, son-in-law, Doug Wagner, and niece, Donna Donner.Janice is survived by daughters and sons-in-law: Maurice and Cheryl Gaddis, Betty Wagner. Deane and Vicki Durham, and sons and daughter-in-law: David and Christie Vandever and James Vandever. Meemaw dearly loved her 12 surviving grandchildren: Dan Gaddis, Shad and Laura Massie, Matt and Kelly Giese, Bailey and Carly Haller, Reid and Kelly Wagner, Jenny Durham, Shelly Durham, Hunter and Alicia Phillips, Eric Vandever, Logan Vandever. Justin Vandever and Clarisa Vandever. Even more joy came with her 7 great-grandchildren: Brooklin, Haiden and Dilynn Wagner, Sawyer Haller and Lyla, Rhett and Anson Massie. Janice is also survived by sister-in-law, Jane Wheat, neice, Teri Wheat Ervin and various nieces and nephews.The family would like to express their gratitude to Lowery 24 Hour In-Home Care, Liz Navarez, Diana Wilson, Belia Bonilla and Star Care Hospice nurses, Famara Singhateh and Marie Johnson.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: KWO Ministries, 3500 W.
