Janice Pitts, 48, of Pecos, died on Thursday, January 10, 2002, in an Odessa hospital. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, January 12, 2002, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Rev. Leroy Linney, pastor of Hosanna Christian Fellowship in Stanton, officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Stanton. She was born on November 18, 1953 in Big Spring, Texas and married J. T. Pitts on August 25, 1993 in Stanton, Texas. Janice attended Grady and Flower Grove schools. For five years she worked as a gin clerk at Brown Gin in the Brown Community, Tarzan Farmers Gin and Long Gin in Stanton. She also worked in the Martin County Tax Assessor-Collectors Office for five years and was a billing and rating clerk at Winkles Trucking Co. in Pecos for five years. She owned and operated Family Traditions in Pecos until her health failed. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Pecos. Janice enjoyed her family and friends and enjoyed staying at her Balmorhea Lake house. Survivors include her husband, J. T. Pitts of Pecos; one daughter, Mandy Garza and husband Rolando, Jr. of Stanton; one son, John Randy Franklin and girlfriend, Rhonda Eargle of Lenorah; two grandchildren, Jacob Andrew Chappell and Kathryn Garza both of Stanton; her mother, Mildred Haggard of Stanton; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Becky and Elton Williams of Stanton, Ann and Hugh Schafer of Glasscock County and Jackie and Willie Wells of Lenorah; and her grandmother, Clara Allred of Stanton. She was preceded in death by one son, Buster Klyce Franklin and her father, Buster Haggard.
