Janice “Gay” Hock, 85, of Midland, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 10, 2022 in the comfort of her home.
Gay was born on January 18, 1937 in Chatham Jackson Parish, Louisiana to Joel Hall Melton and Verna Aline Womack Bivens. She married Lawrence “Larry” Hock in 1964 and they enjoyed a full life of spending time with family, traveling, square-dancing, church activities, and other interests. Gay retired from Cotton, Bledsoe and Tighe where she was a paralegal for many years. After retiring, she became a Master Gardener and shared her love of plants and flowers with friends and loved ones. She enjoyed sewing and was an accomplished quilter. Gay was also a long-time member of Alamo Heights Baptist Church where she served in many capacities through the years.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sisters, Carolyn Montgomery of Sherman, Texas, Linnie Coger of Huntsville, Arkansas, and Glenda “Beth” Thompson of Fayetteville, Arkansas, son, Stephen Hock and his wife Alison of New Braunfels, Texas, and their families; also, niece Lori RIngener of Stanton, Texas, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She will be especially missed by many life-long friends including Vernell and T. H. Russom, Mariane and Joe Merworth, and Becka and Tom Hanna and their daughters Rachel and her husband Jordan, and daughter Lauren.
Gay is preceded in death by her father, Joel Melton, mother and step-father, Verna and Dee Bivens, her loving husband of 52 years, Larry Hock, daughter, Merry Dianne Hock, and sister Georgia Rae Caldwell.
Our family would like to express our gratitude toward Hospice of Midland and her caregivers: Ericka, Cinthia, Brenda, Lucy, Otilia, and Hector. For Gay home meant comfort, and she was so thankful for those who helped care for her so that she was able to be surrounded by those she loved dearly.
