Jan Wooten met her maker on July 27, 2005. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 29, 2005 at 11:00 am the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel, 3800 N. Big Spring St. with Rev. Bob Porterfield pastor of West Kentucky Baptist Church officiating and Rev. Eddy Elliott, assisting. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2005 from 6:00 -7:00 pm at the funeral home. She was born to Odette & Erwin Carr in Navarro County on May 13, 1940. She was preceded in death by her parents, and maternal and paternal grandparents.Jan graduated from Midland High School in 1958 where she was a member of the National Honor Society and the MHS band. She married Bob Wooten in Midland on December 20, 1958. She was employed at Drilco/Smith Int'l from 1964 and retired in 1984. She then began a banking career with Texas Commerce Bank (later Chase Bank), retiring as a bank officer in February, 2000. Jan made many friends in these two organizations and always enjoyed her work.She was an avid bowler, beginning in 1958 and acted as secretary to leagues until the time of her death. During her bowling years, she also served as Director and then President of MWBA. She won several honors including the Bowling Bertha Award for achievement and love of bowling, and later was elected as a life member of MWBA. She loved traveling to State and National tournaments and trips to Vegas with her friends.Jan joined the Mary Kay cosmetics family in 1992 under the sponsorship of Sylvia Cook. She loved everything about Mary Kay and made many lifelong friends through her achievements with that organization. Jan is survived by her husband of 48 years, Bob Wooten, a daughter, Sheri Higgins of Midland and her daughters K'nell Higgins, Robi Higgins and granddaughter Kodi Klipstine; son Rick Wooten and wife Stacy of Murphy, Texas and their sons Colby Wooten and Gunner Wooten, a brother, Dale Carr and wife Vicki of Midland and his children Byron Carr, Tessa Carr and Amber Carr; a sister, Shelia Covington and husband Kyle of Whites Creek, Tennessee and her sons, J.P. Lawless, Kris Lawless and Stacy Lawless.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to MWBA, The American Cancer Society 2304 W. Wadley, Midland, TX 79705, or the charity of your choice. She was dearly loved by all and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
