Janice Ann Champion, 73, of Luling, Louisiana, passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2008, in Midland, Texas. Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Luling, Louisiana with Rev. Todd M. Hallman and Rev. Dale Seal, officiating. Interment will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in St. Rose, Louisiana.Janice was born December 6, 1934, in Beaumont, Texas to Ruth and Leslie Lewis. She grew up and graduated from high school in Kermit. She married Ross L. Champion on May 10, 1952 in Kermit. During their married life, they lived in Graham and Tyler, Texas and Hobbs, New Mexico. They lived in Luling, Louisiana for the last 40 years. Janice raised 4 daughters and sewed and cooked wonderfully. Her grandkids were number one in her life. Her faith was very strong. She was very outgoing and loved to travel. She enjoyed playing cards and dominoes. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Luling, Louisiana.Survivors include husband, Ross Champion of Luling, Louisiana; daughter and son-in-law, Marcia and Jesse Newton of Houma, Louisiana; daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Lee Ivanhoe of Midland, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and Tom Discavage of Lancaster, Pennsylvania; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Patrick Wright of La Place, Louisiana; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Janie Lewis of Jackson, Mississippi; 14 grandchildren, Jess Newton, Christine Newton Bonvillian, Elizabeth Ivanhoe, Katherine Ivanhoe, Tracy Ivanhoe, Thomas Moore, Josh Discavage, Cole Discavage, David Discavage, Andrew Discavage, Michael Wright and Leslie Wright; great grandchild, Jake Bonvillian; and nephews, Guy Lewis and Chad Lewis.
