Interment will follow at Burkett Cemetery Burkett.James W. "Jim" Lindsey was born February 5, 1924, in Amarillo, Texas. At age 7, the family moved to Crosby County near Ralls, Texas, where he grew up. He attended elementary school in Crosbyton and high School in Ralls. In 1942, he joined the U.S. Army Air corps and served in the South Pacific with the 22nd Troop Carrier Squadron of the 5th Air Force and the Far Eastern Air Force during WWII. He was discharged in September 1945, in 1950 he joined the U.S. Naval Air Reserves and was stationed in Lincoln, Nebraska.In 1953 he met Laveren Koenig and they were married September 12, 1953 in Burkett, Texas. They were married for fifty-one years. The couple then moved to Fort Worth, Texas and he was employed by the Texas Company, later known as Texaco Inc.In 1959 Texaco moved the division offices from Fort Worth to Midland, where he continued employment until his retirement in 1983 after 30 years of service. He was a pilot and was one of the founders of the West Texas Astronomers Club of Midland.He was a member of the Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife, Laveren Lindsey of Midland;one son, Bryan Lindsey and his wife Lori and two grandchildren, Kyle and Caitlin of Artesia, New Mexico; one step brother, Melvin Lee Burks of Humble, Texas. The family suggests memorials be made to: American Cancer Society 2304 W. Wadley, Midland, TX 79705, American Heart Association, 3205 W.
