James W. Judd

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of James “Jim” Judd, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Jim peacefully departed this world on July 17, 2026, at the age of 75, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on August 21, 1950, in Flint, Michigan, Jim was the cherished son of the late Lloyd and Ruth (Cook) Judd.

Jim’s formative years were spent in Lapeer, Michigan, where he graduated from Lapeer High School in 1968. Following his passion for electrical work, he pursued an apprenticeship and proudly earned his Master Electrician license from the State of Michigan. His career led him to serve the State of Michigan, where he dedicated his skills to the Departments of Mental Health and state correction facilities.

Upon retirement, Jim embraced a new chapter in Midland, Texas, where he found immense joy in being close to his children and grandchildren. His family was his greatest treasure, and he was a devoted father to Jessica and Scott Jones, Jeremiah Judd and Cassaundra Harrison, and Alicia Judd and Chris Curtner. As a grandfather, Jim was cherished by his grandchildren, Shelby Judd and his fiancé Katy Laws, Hailey Judd, Hannah Jones, and Karly Jones, who will forever hold his memory dear.

Jim was predeceased by his parents, Lloyd and Ruth Judd, his sister Pam Allen, and his brother Thomas Judd. He leaves behind his siblings, Georgiana and Elwyn Brandt, Mark and Renae Judd, and Timothy Judd, along with many nieces and nephews who will fondly remember his kindness and humor.

A man of the community, Jim was an enthusiastic summer softball coach in Hanover Horton, where he imparted not only the fundamentals of the game but also invaluable life lessons to the youth. His involvement extended to 4-H, where he passionately served as the Goat Division Superintendent, supporting his children’s interests and contributing to the community.

Jim’s warmth and generosity shone brightly during the holiday season, as he lovingly donned the role of Santa, bringing joy and wonder to the children of Midland. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his dedication to his family, and his unwavering kindness.

Viewing on Monday, July 20, 2026 from 5:00 – 7:00 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch and the service to celebrate Jim’s remarkable life will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at 10:00 a.m.

Jim Judd’s legacy of love, laughter, and service will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed yet fondly remembered by all.
