Jim Shaw, 90, loving husband, father, grandfather, and proud Veteran passed away on February 6, 2009 in Denton, Texas.He was born in Marlow Oklahoma on October 4, 1918.He married the love of his life, Dorothy Kay West, on June 14, 1947. They lived in Big Spring, Texas for 44 years before moving to Denton in 2003.He was a deacon at the Birdwell Lane Church of Christ in Big Spring.Jim entered the United States Air Force on January 5, 1942 at Sheppard Air Force Base.He was a Staff Sergeant in the 9th Air Force, 363rd Fighter Group, 228th Fighter Squadron serving as a Crew Chief for P51 fighter planes during World War II. Jim loved his country and treasured every minute of service he gave to his country.He was awarded the Bronze Star for 149 missions with no loss of planes due to mechanical failure.He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Kay Shaw; a sister, Lula Howard of Madera California; one daughter, Kathy Shaw Butler and husband, Don of Denton; two sons, James T. Shaw of Houston and Joey E. Shaw and wife, Corrine of Houston; and four grandchildren, April M. Lyons and husband, Jordan of Abilene; Aaron, Derek, and Chelsea Shaw of Houston. He is preceded in death by his mother, Nora E. Shaw; his father, James E. Shaw; five sisters, Annamae Hall, Ruby Elliott, Ruth Pharris, Eula Satterwhite, Pauline Hampton; and one brother, J.E. Shaw.Visitation will be held at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home, 906 Gregg St., Big Spring on Monday, February 9, 2009 from 6:00 PM-7:00 PM. Services will be held at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel, Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at 10:00 AM. Internment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
