James “Jim” Reese, 83, of Big Spring, died Monday, August 4, 2014 in a Midland hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, August 7, 2014 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Memorial Park. Jim was born in Leaky, Texas, December 23, 1930 to James and Ruby Hill Reese. He lived in Leaky until the age of 16 when the family moved to Camp Mystic, a girls’ camp in Hunt, Texas. He lived there until September 13, 1948. He joined the United States Army, serving 8 years, 2 months and 28 days and then spent the next 20 years in the United States Air Force, retiring November 1, 1968. He moved to Big Spring in October 1973 and owned many bars. Survivors include many nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law, Arlene Reese, and Zada Tucker; and two grandchildren, Kathy and Ricky Reese. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vada; a son, James B. Reese; his parents; one brother, A. G. “Gene” Reese; and three sisters, Ramona, Audrey, and an infant. The family would like to say a special “Thank You” to Debbie, Joyce, Tim, all the doctors and hospice nurses and aids. The family suggests memorials be made to a favorite charity.
