James Dewitt “J.D.” May III, age 89, of Midland passed away on Friday, March 18, 2016. The family will be accepting guests at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home on Monday, March 21, 2016 from 6:00pm-8:00pm. Memorial services will be held at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at 2:00pm.J.D. was born on August 7, 1926 in Dallas, Texas to James May, Jr. and Virginia Storey May. He married Stella Shattuck on August 20, 1949.J.D. was active in various community organizations throughout his life, including Meals on Wheels and a volunteer at Midland Memorial Hospital. He worked for Skelly-Getty-Texico. J.D. was a draftsman. In 2010, they moved to Helen Greathouse Manor where he had lots of friends and did many activities. He was in the Korean War during his time in the U.S. Airforce. J.D. was a member of Golf Course Road Church of Christ in Midland.He is survived by his sons, Jay May and wife, Debbie; son, Andy May; niece, Meredith Drummond-Cox; 7 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.He is preceded in death by his parents, J.D. May, Jr. and Virginia Storey Morton; stepfather, Cecil Morton; stepmother, Benny May; wife, Stella May; son, Peter May; sister-in-law, Nelle Drummond; brother-in-law, Bob Drummond; brother, Bob May; nephews, Paul Drummond and Bill Drummond.The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and nurses’ aides at Midland Memorial Hospital for all their care; and Skip, Sherry and Kelli at Home Hospice. Thank you to all that live and work at Helen Greathouse Manor for being so special and meaningful to our Dad during the last five years. He will be greatly missed.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Home Hospice; Alzheimer’s Association; and American Parkinson Disease Association. ,
