James L. Limbacher, age 81, of Midland, went to his eternal home with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 5, 2023. Jim was born in Baltic, Ohio, on November 21, 1941, to Doris and Carl Limbacher. Shortly after high school graduation, he moved to Tucson, Arizona, accepting a position with Phillips 66 that led to a 40-year career in petroleum marketing. In 1962, Jim enlisted in the Army and was trained and served at Fort Ord, California. Upon completion, he resumed his position with Phillips 66 while attending Phoenix City College.
In 1963, he met and fell in love with Peggy Martin. They were married in Eloy, Arizona, on February 28, 1964, and were looking forward to celebrating 60 years of marriage. Jim’s career with Gulf Oil and Chevron transferred his family many times. They settled in Midland in 1986, where they joined Bellview Baptist Church. Jim served his church faithfully and was ordained as a deacon in 1993. He was passionate about teaching his Sunday school class, singing in the choir, and witnessing to every person he met about Jesus.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, John. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Peggy; son Jon Limbacher and wife Amy of Austin, Texas; son Jeff Limbacher and wife Rikki of Midland, Texas; daughter Jennifer Therwhanger and husband Lindy of Millersview, Texas; grandchildren Lauren Goldsmith, Megan Therwhanger, Matthew Jordan and wife Courtney, and Bryce Limbacher; great-grandchildren Briley Goldsmith, Trinity Jordan, Madison Jordan and sister Shelby Fantin of New Philadelphia, Ohio.
