James L. Martin of Midland, born August 11, 1944 in Reno, Texas passed away Monday, August 13, 2012 at the age of 68. Funeral services will be held at 11AM, August 18, 2012, at the Tall City Baptist Church with Pastor Teddy Seales of Victory Fellowship Church and Brother Terry Wright of Westover Baptist Church in Odessa officiating. Graveside services will follow at Serenity Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends for viewing from 6:00-8:00PM on Friday, August 17, 2012 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.James served in the United States Army from 1961 until 1964, and married Peggy Modisett on August 13, 1965 in Crane. James owned and operated a trucking company based in Midland. James also served as a Deacon and Charter Member of Victory Fellowship Church.He is survived by his wife, Peggy Martin of Midland; three sons, Alan Martin of Granbury, Andy Martin of Houston, and Aaron Martin of Clymer, Pennsylvania; sister, Jannette Bunker of Mountain View, Arkansas; sister-in-laws, Mozell Martin and Barbara Martin both of Longview, Pat Hall of Midland, and Vera Modisett of Odessa; brother-in-laws, John Modisett and Raymond Modisett, both of Odessa; five grandsons; 6 granddaughters; 2 great grandchildren; and a host of loving nieces and nephews.James was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Myrtle; brothers, Sam Jr., Roland, and Virgil; and sister, Bea.
