James L. "Jim" George, 80, of Big Spring, died on Thursday, September 7, 2006, in a local nursing home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, September 11, 2006 at the Nallley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Chaplain Walter McCall of Odyssey Hospice, officiating and Rev. Elwin Collom, pastor of Hillcrest Baptist Church, assisting. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.He was born on July 27, 1926, in Dougherty, Oklahoma and married Dean Stallcup on September 14, 1946 in Clovis, New Mexico. Jim came to Big Spring in 1988 from Garden City. He had worked as a construction supervisor in the construction industry until retiring in 1993 after 46 years. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Jim served in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1946. He was involved in and coached Little League Baseball for a number of years.Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Dean George of Big Spring; three sons, Lee George of Big Spring, Michael George of Lakeland, Florida and Cecil George of Ft. Stockton; one daughter, Gayle Graham of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 13 grandchildren, Chris and Patrick George, Michelle King, Matt Graham, Jennifer Guire, Michael and Ashley George, Shaylyn Burnham, Shelby Flowers, James George and Ryan, Joseph and Clayton Lauderdale; and 11 great grandchildren, Ryan and Kevin King, Sydney, Karter and Bayley Burnham, Andie George, Sarah George, Tyler George, Taylor Flowers and Brooklyn and Delaney Guire. Pallbearers will be Jerry Musgrove, David Roberts, Wendal North, Mike Moates, Mark Tissue and Mark Hyatt.
