James (Jim) Alfred McClatchy passed away on January 8, 2015. He was born August 2, 1934 to Dwight and Rosa Belle McClatchy in Dallas, TX. Jim moved to Wink, TX in 1936 where he went to school until 1950. The family then moved to Midland, TX and he graduated from Midland High School in 1952. After attending Texas Tech University and graduating with a Business Management degree in 1956, he went back to Midland to work in the family trucking business, McClatchy Bros., Inc. He worked there until 1959 when he, his brother Bill and father, Dwight, bought a household goods moving company, McClatchy Van Lines. He ran the Midland terminal until 1970 and then returned to McClatchy Bros., Inc. as manager and co-owner until his retirement in 2005 when he sold his interest and retired.Jim was active in various communities and state organizations throughout his life, including President of Midland Jaycees, JCI Senator, President of Ranchland Hills Country Club, and Chairman of the Board of Oilfield Haulers Association and served on the Executive Committee of Texas Motor Transportation Association. Jim was active in St. Luke’s United Methodist Church as a member and a chairman of several boards, committees, ministries, and was President of the Builders Sunday School Class for 20 plus years. He was also active with (AMOS) Area Mission Outreach Service for several years.Jim was preceded in death by his parents, D.A. and Rosa Belle McClatchy and brother, Bill.He is survived by his wife, Beverly, and their son, Kelly and his wife, Kimberly. He has four children by a previous marriage; daughter, Kimberly Sikes; son Kent and his wife, Erin; daughter, Kerri Hawk and her husband, Richard; and daughter, Kristi Blair and her husband, Rand; grandchildren, Ashlyn McClatchy, Casey Runnestrand, Jodie McClatchy, Taylor McClatchy, Emily Hogue, Jason Hogue, Micah Blair, Emma Blair, Sam Blair; great-grandchildren, Madelyn McClatchy, Hunter McClatchy, and Preston McClatchy.Funeral services will be held at 9:00 am, Monday, January 12, 2015 at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church with Reverend Kathryn Boren officiating and with Kelly Inman assisting. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 3011 W. Kansas. ,
