James “Grumpy” Grimsley, Jr., 73, of Big Spring, went to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, January 14, 2019. Memorial services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Grace Fellowship Church of God with Pastor Steve Goude and his son, Ricky Grimsley, officiating.He was born July 20, 1945 in Raymondville, Texas to James Olen Grimsley, Sr. and Ida Mae Grimsley. He married Carolyn Gentry June 20, 1968 in Big Spring.Grumpy graduated from Harlingen High School. He served in the United States Air Force and moved to Big Spring after being discharged. He worked for Forsan Oil Well Service, Pool Company, Knight Oil Tool and Basic Energy and got his nickname from Bob Wash. He enjoyed fishing and was known as “the greatest fish fry man”.He was an active member of Grace Fellowship Church of God.Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Grimsley of Big Spring; one son, Ricky Grimsley and wife, Angela; three grandchildren, Ashley McPherson and Hanna Grimsley and Josh Grimsley; a great-granddaughter, Ariana McPherson and a great-grandson to be born Friday, Kai McPherson; three sisters, Mary Jeffries and husband, David, Carol McCarty and husband, Kent, and Penny Binion and husband, Jimmy; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home and Crematory.
