James Edward Sullivan, 77, of Midland, passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2012 in Midland. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, September 24, 2012 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel in Midland. A reception will follow the services. James was born July 15, 1935, in Gladewater, Texas to Sabria (Trail) and John H. Sullivan. He graduated from Union Grove High School in Gladewater in 1953. He married Clarice Mathiews in 1955. Their sons, James Michael and Chad Hunter, were born in 1957 and 1961, respectively.James worked for Morton Thiokol and Rocket Fuel Plant, as production foreman, from 1953 to 1961. He worked as engineering assistant to the supervisor of regulatory affairs at Shell Oil Company from 1961 to 1979. He graduated from the University of Texas Permian Basin in 1976, with a Bachelor's BBA degree. James married Lucy Hamilton in 1985. He worked as vice president of operations at Cole Petroleum from 1979 to 1988. He worked as materials manager for Maralo from 1989 to 2004 and Adkins Supply from 2005 to 2011.James was president of the Permian Basin Petroleum Association from 1998 to 1999. He attended a community Bible study from 1990 to 2000. He was a member of The Episcopal Church of the Holy Trinity in Midland.Survivors include wife, Lucy Hamilton of Midland and son, Michael Sullivan and wife Cindy of Odessa.He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Chad Sullivan in 2010. James chose to be an organ donor to help others, just as receiving a kidney transplant helped him. He wanted to be cremated and his ashes spread on the Lake O' The Pines in Longview, Texas.
