Wells, James Earl, 77, of Big Spring, died on Monday, October 9, 2000, in a local hospital. Funeral services will be at 4:00 PM Wednesday, October 11, 2000, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Michael Bryan, minister of Sand Springs Church of Christ and Phillip Burcham, Church of Christ minister, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park. He was born on April 14, 1923 in Eddyville, Kentucky and married Mary Helen Moore on July 1, 1947 in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. Mr. Wells came to Ackerly in 1951 from Kentucky and then to Big Spring in 1977. He worked for McCann Butane for 18 years, retiring in 1990. He was a Baptist. He had served in the United States Army during World War II. Survivors include his wife, Mary Wells of Big Spring; one son, Dennis Wells of Big Spring; three daughters, Sandra Nanny of Junction, Kay Court of Big Spring and Laurie Green of Roswell, New Mexico; one sister, Leola Barrett ofKuttawa, Kentucky; three grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Amanda Court.
