James David McClaine of Midland, passed away December 25, 2015. Jim was born August 28, 1928 near New Ross, Montgomery County, Indiana to Iris (Mitcheltree) and Ezra McClaine. He graduated from Ladoga High School, then served in the United States Army in Japan. Jim graduated from the University of Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy at Rolla, Missouri in 1953 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering. Jim located in West Texas and married Alma Joyce Fry on August 6, 1955 in Cisco, TX. He worked for Stanolind/Pan American, Skelly Oil Company, Sipes, Williamson and Aycock Petroleum Consultant, First National Bank of Midland, Moran Exploration, Inc. and T. Schott Hickman and Associates, Inc. of Midland before retiring in 1993.Jim was a Registered Professional Engineer in Texas. Industry Associations included Society of Petroleum Engineers, Society of Petroleum Evaluations Engineers, API Reserves Committee, West Central Texas Waterflood Association, and Natural Gas Association of the Permian Basin. He was also a Little League baseball coach, company representative for the United Way, and member and chairman of a Boy Scout Troop committee for many years. Jim was a faithful Christian and a member of Fannin Terrace Baptist Church of Midland. Jim and Joyce enjoyed ranching in Callahan and Coke Counties. Jim was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed.Jim was preceded in death by his wife Alma Joyce McClaine of 57 years, mother Iris McClaine, father Ezra McClaine, step-mother Pauline, half-brothers Jack and Jerry McClaine.He is survived by his sons; Stephen McClaine and wife Jena, Brian McClaine and wife Elizabeth all of Midland; daughter Brenda Carrens and husband Carey of Taunton, MA. Grandchildren; Chris and wife Dayna of Edmond, OK, Lindsay Elliott and husband Adam, Lauren Greer and husband Chase, Matthew, Sarah Cruz and husband Chris, Timothy and Joseph McClaine all of Midland, and Austin Carren of Tuanton, MA. Great-grandchildren; Gage, Kyler, and Annley McClaine of Edmond, OK, Capri and Quinn Elliott, and Paisley Greer of Midland.Memorial services will be held on Monday, January 11, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at Nalley-Pickle and Welch Chapel.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Hospice Midland, P.O.
