James Chivers, 73, of Midland, passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2007, in Midland. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, August 3, 2007 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Chapel in Midland. Interment will take place Saturday, August 4, 2007 at the Willow Point Cemetery, twelve miles southwest of Bridgeport.James was born on August 8, 1933, in Willow Point, Texas to James and Ruby Chivers. He married Glenda Neeley.James grew up in Willow Point and attended school in Bridgeport. He was a contract pumper for many years and drove a truck and worked for Permian. He retired in 1987. James was a "rocket scientist", according to his family. If there wasn't a tool available, he would make it. He loved welding and woodworking.Survivors include wife, Glenda of Midland; son, Robert and his wife, Marie of Lubbock; three daughters, Pamela Weatherred of Midland, Jami Perkins and her husband, Brian of Lubbock and Shelby Condon and her husband, Rick of Midland; five grandchildren, Bobby Chivers, Jordan Weatherred, Lindsey Weatherred, Tyler Perkins and Caden Condon; two brothers, Billy Chivers of Grapevine and Tommy Chivers of Carrollton; step-brother, Jimmy Stegall of Willow Point; step-parents, Marshall and Jackie Johnson of Willow Point. He was preceded in death by his parents and a step-brother, Kelly Stegall.The family would like to thank the nurses, Danny, Anita, Leslie, John and Linda at Midland Memorial Hospital.
