James C. Kelly, 87, of Big Spring, died Monday, January 21, 2013, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Andy Glenn, grandson, officiating. The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at the funeral home. James was born April 9, 1925, in Brown County, Texas and married Bea Kelly August 28, 1947 in Forney, Texas.Charley served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was transferred to the United States Marine Corps as a medic. He moved to Big Spring 1955 and worked for Cosden Refinery for 27 years retiring as an operator. He then began to volunteer and was a past president of the board for Meals on Wheels. He was also a volunteer reader at Washington Elementry. He was a member of the Church of Christ.Survivors include his wife, Bea Kelly of Big Spring; two daughters and sons-in-law, Janis and Mike Edwards of Big Spring and Lisa and Rick Van Damen of Tyler; one son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Laura Kelly of Pasadena; seven grandsons, Cary Sampson, Kelly Sampson, Kevin Sampson, Jason Kelly, Austin Kelly, Stetson Hughes, and Christopher Hughes; and two granddaughters, Sarah Kelly and Leslie Hughes. He was preceded in death by two brothers and seven sisters.
