James C. "Jim" Jordan, 72, of Midland, died on Thursday, October 4, 2007, at the Hospice of Midland Inpatient Unit. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, October 8, 2007 at the Crestview Baptist Church with Dr. John Gerlach, pastor of Crestview Baptist, officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven North. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM Sunday, at the funeral home. The pallbearers will be Matt Hoppman, Paul Jordan, Ryan Reid, Mitchell Dinsmore, Jerry Mitchell and Buck Byrum.James was born on May 22, 1935 in Ava, Missouri to Jessie Junetta Shooks, and lived there until he was 15. He then moved to Tucson, Arizona, where he graduated from high school. He was in the Air Force for 25 years, retiring in 1976. He moved to Big Spring and worked for Bob's Custom Woodwork. James married Gloria Jackson on September 19, 1980 in Big Spring.They then moved to Midland, where he worked for KMart for 17 years. He loved camping, fishing, and his church. He was a volunteer for the Baptist Crisis Center for many years. He loved his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren dearly. Survivors include his wife, Gloria Jordan of Midland; his mother, Jessie Shooks of Alpena, Arkansas; three daughters, Pat Hoppman of Midland, Pam Jordan, and companion, Suzanne Reid, of Denton, and Tammy Reid and husband Rex, of Liberty Hill; three sons, James R. Jordan, and wife Ruth, and Mark Dinsmore and wife Linda and Brett Dinsmore, all of Midland; one brother, Otis Dean Jordan and wife, Irene of Omaha, Arkansas; two sisters, Donna Greer and husband, Chuck of Alpena, Arkansas and Billy Jean Adams of Dupont, Indiana; and ten grandchildren, Matt Hoppman, and wife Amy, Amanda Jordan, Paul Jordan, Darby Cox and husband James, Ryan Reid, Mitchell Dinsmore, Haley Dinsmore, Robin Hammond, Chris Hoppman, and Diana Hoppman; and six great grandchildren, Garrett and Lynsey Hoppman, Riley and Jillian Cox and Christopher and Ashley Hoppman.James was preceded in death by one brother, Sam Ellison.
