James “Jim” Albert Bradshaw was born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma on September 19, 1928. Jim went home to his Savior on October 28, 2015 at the age of 87, after a short battle with cancer. He leaves behind many family members, loved-ones, and friends, but none more precious to his heart than his loving wife of 32-years, Rita Bradshaw.Jim led as diverse a life as any man could have hoped, enjoying careers in real estate, printing and ministry, and finally, as an archivist at Haley Memorial Library and History Center. It was his final years with Haley where he spent countless hours assisting authors in research on their fiction and nonfiction works. That research helped him as he spent many years on his own genealogy, and compiling the life stories of his ancestors. In 1946, at the age of 18, he joined the Army with his brother Ted. He rose in rank from a Private Basic Trainee, to a Corporal Duty Non-Commissioned Officer and Military Policeman in New Mexico, where he was chosen as one of the guards protecting the atomic bomb.Just as diverse as his careers, Jim lived all across the United States. From Oklahoma, California, Washington, Arkansas, New Mexico and Texas, he looked at each locale as a new adventure for him and his family. Some of his favorite adventures were hitchhiking from Seattle to Odessa at the age of 21, and his mission trip to Brazil. Most impressive about Jim was his steadfast faith in his Lord. Despite the loss of his first two wives, Amy and Ruth, to cancer, and the death of his grandson, Barak James Bane, he never lost his belief in a loving and personal God.In addition to those departed loved ones, he was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth & Argyle Bradshaw, and his brother, Ted Bradshaw.Jim leaves behind his wife, Rita Bradshaw, sister Carolyn Scott from Burnet, TX, son Stan Bradshaw and wife Paula from Coupeville, WA, daughter, Donna Shook and husband Gordon from Frisco, TX, daughter, Alice Bane and husband Jeff from Midland, TX, son, Chuck Sonnenberg and wife Amy from San Angelo, TX, and daughter, Carla Sorenson and her husband Rick from Midland, TX, eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Last and certainly not least, he leaves his breakfast buddies, Fred Seay, George Snapp and Lowell Thurman, and, his lunch bunch, Richard Brooks and Jim Henry.Pallbearers are Jeff Bane, John Bane, Garrett Davidson, David Shook, Kolton Sonnenberg and Kord Sonnenberg. Honorary pallbearers are Carroll Brand, Richard Brooks, Patrick Dearen, Jim Henry, Fred Seay, George Snapp and Lowell Thurman. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Hospice of Midland, 911 W.
