James Arnold "Jim" Clary, 78, of Stanton, died on Saturday, February 14, 2009, at his residence. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, February 20, 2009 at the Stanton Community Center. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, February 21, 2009, at the Harpersville Cemetery in Breckenridge. He was born on July 26, 1930, in Breckenridge, Texas. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He came to Stanton in 1962 from Abilene and owned and operated Clary Tire Company for many years. Survivors include three sons, Duane Clary of Carlsbad, New Mexico, Alan Clary of Rosenburg, Oregon and Michael Clary of Midland; one step son, Clifton Price of Lenorah; one daughter, Carrie Lovett of Midland; one sister, Bernice Chandler of Odessa; one brother, Donald Clary of Odessa; 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, George R. Clary and Vergie Wells Clary; two sisters, Bertie Segler and Mildred Roberts; two brothers, Johnny Clary and Jimmy Green. The family suggests memorials be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 15186, Austin, Texas 78761 or to the American Lung Association, 4141 Pinnacle, Suit 212, El Paso, TX 79902. I don't believe I ever met Jim. I've met several of his children and have known Alan since 1977. I hope happy memories will ease you through your sorrow.

I have known Jim for several years now and I was saddened to hear about his passing. He is in a better place without suffering now. God needed another angel so He called him home. Jim was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need and would have given the shirt off of his back to help others. I have experienced his generosity and I know that he had a giving heart. He once gave some tires to a person that I knew who was stranded in town and needed to get back home. These kind deeds are the ones that he will be remembered for. When he knew I was in need of extra money he paid me to clean his house. He will be missed. The people left below lost a great man but the heavens up above gained an angel. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family during this time.

Dear Duane, Sorry about your Dad. I got to know him over the last many years. He stopped by when he caught me out at the "barn." Always enjoyed visiting with him. He would always tell me about you. Obviously proud of you. Hadn't seen him in a while and told Jo (my wife), just this past weekend, that I wondered where he was lately. I'll miss seeing him out at the barn and his stories. ~ Chipper
