James A. Campbell, 71, of Big Spring, died on Thursday, March 12, 2009, in a Midland hospital. Memorial funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at St. Mary's Episcopal Church with Rev. Barbara Kirk-Norris, pastor officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 PM to 7 Pm Friday, March 13 at the funeral home. He was born February 27, 1938 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1973. He dedicated his life to the underpriviledged, working many years for the Big Spring State Hospital and later at West Texas Centers for MHMR and was a sponsor of Alateen for many years. He traveled extensively throughout Latin America. He was well known for his realistic paintings and received awards as "Best of Show" in Abilene, Austin, Midland and Big Spring. Survivors include his twin brother, John Campbell and wife, Cathy of Corpus Christi; nephew, Mark Campbell and wife, Jennifer of Plano; niece, Karen Oberwortmann and husband, John of Round Rock and grand nephews, Holden and Walker Campbell and Jack and James Oberwortmann.
