Jacquelyne Cromwell

On September 5, 2011, at the age of 80, Jacquelyne Cromwell was welcomed by the Lord and reunited with the love of her life, Stan Cromwell. She was preceded in death by Stan, her husband of 53 years in 2002; her parents, Eva and E.W. "Jack" Martin; and her sister Patricia Sue Sahli.Jackie was born in Phillips, Texas in 1931, to Eva and Jack Martin. Her family moved to Borger, Texas where she graduated from Borger High School in 1948. That fall Frank Phillips College was established where Jackie and Stan enrolled. They had their first date that September, were engaged in December and married July 15, 1949. Stan completed his second year at Frank Phillips and Jackie began her banking career at First National Bank in Borger. They moved to Commerce, Texas where Stan finished at East Texas A & M, and she continued working at Security State Bank. Upon graduation they moved to Lubbock, Texas where Jackie continued her banking career at Citizens National Bank. In 1954 her husband began his career in the oil and gas industry and their son, Steve was born that fall. In 1960 they moved to Amarillo, Texas, subsequently to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and in 1966 they moved to Midland, Texas where they made their home. In September 2009, she moved to Manor Park in a lovely new home. Though the time at Manor Park was cut far too short with the sudden diagnosis of pancreatic and liver cancer – the months there were a blessing.Jackie has been a member of First Baptist Church since 1966 and has been active serving her Lord and teaching Bible study classes. In 1979 she and Stan became directors of young married adult departments. Her love and devotion to the Lord and His church was evident by her consistent daily walk and her willingness to serve. Jackie cherished the friendships she gained from her many involvements and sharing her time and love for the Lord with the many with whom God blessed her to meet.Everyone that knew her would agree that Jackie was a devoted and faithful wife, a caring, loving and committed mother and a very thankful, proud grandmother, or Mimi. She loved to cook for friends and family and made home a great place to be.She is survived by her son Steve and wife Diane of Edmond, Oklahoma; grandson Dr. David Cromwell and wife Tamara of Temple, Texas; granddaughter Laura and husband Tyler Phillips of Edmond, Oklahoma; and great grandson Luke Cromwell of Temple, Texas. She is also survived by her brother Donald Martin and wife Mary Beth of Sierra Vista, Arizona; nephews Douglas Sahli of Amarillo, Texas; Don Sahli and wife Cindy and their 2 sons Jeff and Sam of Evergreen, Colorado; Jim Martin and son Jimmie of Chandler, Arizona; and Jon Martin of Tucson, Arizona.Serving as honorary pallbearers are Jackie's close friends; Martin Bucy, Allen Cloud, Sam Gibbs, Fred Poe, Reginald Lyle, Clark Osterlund, Aaron Kahler of Buda, Texas and Steve Mattocks of Edmond, Oklahoma.A celebration service will be held Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 10:00 am at First Baptist Church, Midland, with Dr. Randel Everett, Reverend David Johnson and Reverend Robert Hopkins, officiating.In lieu of flowers, the family desires memorial contributions to the 'Arise and Build Fund' at First Baptist Church, 2104 W Louisiana AVE, Midland, TX 79701 or Hospice Midland, PO Box 2621, Midland, TX 79702.A heart full of gratitude is extended to her many devoted friends and caregivers, and especially to Dr. Ben Doke, Dr. James Barnett, Dr. Greg Bartha, and Angela and Sandy, her Hospice nurses.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
