Jack R. Swan, 84, of Midland, passed away on Thursday, October 18, 2018 in Midland. Memorial services will be held on Monday, October 22, 2018 at 3:00 PM at Grace Presbyterian Church in Midland.Jack was born in Abilene, Texas, on April 14, 1934 to Faye and Rud Swan. Jack grew up in Abilene where he graduated from High School in 1952 and from Hardin Simmons University in 1958 with a BBA Degree. He later earned a Master of education degree from the University of Texas of Permian Basin.Jack taught school for five years in Lubbock, TX and was also a State Parole Officer in Lubbock for five years. In 1968 Jack became a United States Probation and Parole Office retiring in 1989 after twenty years of service in Midland after the above retirement he worked six years as an Investigator for the State Bar of Texas retiring in 1996.Jack, shortly after graduating from High School in 1952, joined the Texas National Guard in Abilene, Texas. He transferred to the Army Reserves in 1958 after taking a Teacher’s position in Lubbock. Jack was very proud of his Forty (44) Four years of service to his Country. He has the distinction of serving as first Sergeant and Company Commander of the same unit. Jack retired as Colonel, USAR.Jack also served proudly as a “blue Gent” with the Auxiliary of Midland Memorial Hospital amassing over 15,500 hours. He served in many capacities over the years giving him the nick name “Jack of all Trades”.Jack’s greatest love is to his Savior, Jesus Christ and to his wife, Lynne of 47 years; children, Stacy Schroeder and her husband Ron, Mitchell Swan and his wife Rena; two grandsons, Jared and Jacob Swan are his loves and made his life complete.He was preceded in death by his wife, Lynne and his parents. He is survived by his two children and their families as well as his brother, Bill and his family.In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be donated to a charity of your choice.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
