For the first time in a very long time, Jack R. Nobles is walking tall and straight, as he was in my earliest memories of him.He was born in Decatur, Texas on March 16, 1931, to Annie Rhine and Arthur Ray (Sage) Nobles, and died in Midland, Texas on June 2, 2007.Jack was a quiet man who nevertheless had a wonderful sense of humor and a welcoming smile. Most of his career was spent as a salesman in the West Texas oil field, where he made many lasting friends. He himself was a most loyal friend. He was an enthusiastic football fan, and this loyalty extended to his teams.I cannot remember any child with whom he came in contact who did not love him, and he truly enjoyed them and had a special relationship with them. Without exception, those in our family have memories of his patience as he played games with them and taught them how to ride a bike, tie their shoes, and many other things.Jack is survived by his wife, Janette, whom he married in Hobbs, New Mexico on September 10, 1965. Also surviving are his brothers, Billy Ray Nobles and wife, Billye of Henrietta, Texas and Robert Wesley (Bob) Nobles and wife, Sandra of Decatur, Texas and their families. As was his wish, he has returned home to Decatur, where graveside services were held on June 6, 2007 at Oaklawn Cemetery and he was laid to rest beside his mother in the family plot. The Reverend Ken May of the First Baptist Church of Decatur officiated.Although I knew of the wonderful work of Hospice of Midland, I now have a much greater appreciation for them than I can express. Their loving care for Jack and consideration for me will never be forgotten. I can think of no greater tribute for those wishing to make a memorial than a contribution to Hospice of Midland, PO Box 2621, Midland, TX 79702.,
