Jack Dixon, 74, passed away at home, Tuesday, February 18, 2003, surrounded by family and friends. Jack was a member of the Memorial Christian Church and had served as a deacon in the church for a number of years. A celebration of his life will be held, Saturday, February 22, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. at the Memorial Christian Church. Jack was born in Abilene, Texas on October 11, 1928 and spent his school years in Hillsboro, where he graduated from Hillsboro Junior College and then transferred to Texas Tech University, graduating 1951. Upon graduation he was drafted into the Marines where he served from 1951 to 1959. He married Carolyn Waller on September 5, 1960 in El Paso, Texas and had worked for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company for 37 years. He retired to the golf course in 1992 where he especially enjoyed playing with the senior group for many years on Wednesday's. He was active in Midland active in the Midland softball association and was the past president. Jack was an avid outdoorsman and never missed a chance to fish, hunt or watch a game or two.There are no words to express how Jack felt about his family and friends and the joy he brought to us will be there forever. May we be able to enjoy life as much as Jack. Never forget- Go Rebs, Raiders, Longhorns and Cowboys!He is survived by his wife, Carolyn of Midland; his children, David Dixon of Scottsdale, A.Z., Diane and husband, Kenny Lane of Midland, Dayna and husband, Calvin McElreath of Austin; his grandchildren, Michael Welch of Midland and Paige McElreath of Austin: his brother, Jerry and wife, Pat of El Paso, TX; sister, Doris and husband, John Crouch of Cincinnati, OH and many nieces, nephews and friends, who will miss him dearly.He preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Marie Dixon, and brother, Don Dixon.In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be directed to Memorial Christian Church, 1001 Andrews Hwy, Midland, TX 79701 or Hospice of Midland, P.O.
