"Cactus" Jack Broughton, 54, of Big Spring, died on Tuesday, September 1, 2009, at his residence. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, September 4, 2009 at the Peace Chapel at Trinity Memorial Park with Rev. Jim Binnix, pastor of Midway Baptist Church, officiating. He was born on September 5, 1954, in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He had worked in the oil field for a number of years and loved riding and working on motorcycles. He was a Baptist. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Jaime and Justin McGallian of Abilene; his mother, Juanez Broughton of Roswell, New Mexico; a brother and sister-in-law, Bruce and Tina Broughton of Big Spring; a sister and brother-in-law, Lori and Steve Johnson of Roswell, New Mexico; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Broughton and a nephew, Weldon Bruce Broughton, Jr. Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring. I met Jack in the 6th grade. He was my boyfriend then. I had a huge crush n him. Then we went out separate ways always knowing what eachother was doing thoughout the yrs. We lost touch for a while then reconected in Dec. 08. I moved from Odessa back home to be with the man I loved since 6th grade. We gave it our best shot for 6 months but it wasn't to be. However we remain steadfast friends. Jack loved me. I love Jack & will see him again in eternity. He's waiting there just for me.
