J. L. Barron, 81, of Round Rock, formerly of Forsan, died on Monday, July 7, 2008, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, July 10, 2008 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel in Big Spring with Derrick Looney, pastor of First Baptist Church in Forsan, officiating. Interment will follow at Lamesa Memorial Park in Lamesa.He was born on July 20, 1926, in Lamesa, Texas and married Pat Williams on January 15, 1949 in Dawson County, Texas.J. L. moved to Forsan in 1974 from Lamesa. He owned and operated an auto mechanic business for many years. He had served two terms as Mayor of Forsan and also served as water superintendent from 1978 until 2005. He served in the United States Army during World War II in the Aleutian Islands. He was a member and had served as a deacon at First Baptist Church in Forsan.Survivors include his wife, Pat Barron of Round Rock; one daughter, Cheryl Cohorn and husband, J. V. of Round Rock; a grandson, Jon Cohorn of Austin; a granddaughter, Cari Cohorn and husband, Kevin Pacotti of Richmond, California; a great granddaughter, Alyssa Cohorn of Austin; a brother, Bill Barron and a sister, Dorothy Cornett both of Lamesa.He was preceded in death by one son, Jay Lynn Barron in 1988. The family suggests memorials to Odyssey HealthCare Foundation, 4201 W. Pat you and the family will be in our prayers. J.L. is well and in paradise with our Lord now. He will certainly be missed here though. J.L. was an outstanding man, with great insight, patience, many talents, and a loving disposition. I really enjoyed hunting, fishing, or just being around J.L. He guided me through preparing, repairing, and painting my first car 32 years ago (well actually I did what he told me to do as a teenager does...and then he painted the car).
