J. Dudley Cotz, 63, of Big Spring, died Saturday, July 6, 2013, in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at the Trinity Baptist Church with Rev. Joey Bacon, officiating. J. Dudley was born June 2, 1950, in Tucson, Arizona to Delight Carrie Evans Cotz and Melvin Clyde Cotz and married Darlene Bursch May 11, 1998 in Kermit, Texas. He attended schools in West Texas and Eastern New Mexico, graduating from high school in Carlsbad in 1969. He was a Vietnam Veteran having served in the United States Navy from 1969 to 1973. After his tour in the Navy he worked in the oilfield and Carlsbad potash mines. He also worked in Law Enforcement in both New Mexico and West Texas and for the Office of Medical Investigators for the State of New Mexico. Survivors include his wife, Darlene Bursch-Cotz of Big Spring; a step daughter, Evalita Perez-Bobb and husband, Dave of Lubbock; two step sons, Christopher Perez and wife, Kristine of Genoa City, Wisconsin, and Royce Perez of Phoenix, Arizona; four grandchildren, Zoe Bobb, Shawn Bobb, Conrad Perez, and Caden Perez; and two sisters, Rosita Boyd and husband, Curtis of Marble Falls, Oklahoma, and Mel-Anne Barker of Nevada.
