J. C. "Jay" Burchett, 77, of Big Spring, died on Friday, March 18, 2005, in a local hosptial. Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, March 21, 2005 at the Peace Chapel at Trinity Memorial Park with Ralph Anderson, minister of Birdwell Lane Church of Christ, officiating.The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home.He was born on September 22, 1927, in Lamesa, Texas and married Evelyn Kilpatrick Hall on January 23, 1976 in Andrews, Texas. She preceded him in death on July 10, 2002.Jay was a lifetime resident of Big Spring. He had worked at McMahon's Concrete for many years and then worked as a cement contractor. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed fishing, picnicing and being outdoors. He was a member of the Birdwell Lane Church of Christ.Survivors include two sons, Russell Fuquay of Tennessee and Phillip Burchett of Big Spring; a step daughter, Mary Jennings of Big Spring; a step son, Marvin Hall of San Angelo; two sisters, Bobbie Holden and Willie Mae Harrison both of Big Spring; one brother, Willis Burchett of Big Spring; eight grandchildren; four step grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.The family suggests memorials to Birdwell Lane Church of Christ, 1616 E. 11th Place, Big Spring, Texas 79720.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
