J. C. "Jake" Anderson, 84, of Big Spring, formerly of Odessa, died on Thursday, April 28, 2005, in a local nursing home. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 30, 2005 at the Trinity Memorial Park Peace Chapel with Rev. Rex Clayton, pastor of East Fourth Street Baptist Church, officiating.The family will receive friends from 7 PM to 8 PM Friday at the funeral home.Mr. Anderson was born on March 18, 1921, in Howard County and married Billie Jo Riggs in November of 1947 in Big Spring. She preceded him in death in December of 1997.Jake was a graduate of Big Spring High School and had worked for Woolley Tool & Manufacturing in Odessa. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Jake had a pecan orchard and won several awards for his pecans at fairs and pecan shows. He was a Methodist and had served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. Survivors include two brothers and sisters-in-law, Loy "Bo" and Patsy Anderson and Ray and Dorothy Anderson all of Big Spring; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, David William and Nora Maude Anderson and three sisters, Zelma Newton, Eva Waguespack and Ruby Reaves.The family suggest memorials be made to the donor's favorite charity.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
