J. B. Ward, 82, of Big Spring, Texas, died on Tuesday, March 16, 2004, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 PM Thursday, March 18, 2004 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Dr. Claude Craven, retired Baptist minister, officiating. Interment will follow at Colorado City Cemetery, Colorado City.He was born on March 6, 1922, in Eufaula, Oklahoma. He married Verda Lee Fox and she preceded him in death after 44 years of marriage. He then married Wanda Lee McDonald on December 2, 1990 in Big Spring.Mr. Ward came to Big Spring in 1952 from Colorado City and had worked for Caldwell Electric as a hole driller, retiring in 1987. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and had served in the United States Army during World War II.Survivors include his wife, Wanda Lee Ward of Big Spring; two sons, Joe Ward and Billy Ward both of Big Spring; two step daughters, Rebecca Farley of Gilbertsville, Kentucky and Evelyn Knight of Evansville, Indiana; one brother, L. E. Ward of Colorado City; eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.He was also preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
