Rev. J.B. Shewmake, a.k.a. \The Little Dutchman\, 78, formerly of Tarzan, Texas, departed from this world and was received into heaven on Tuesday, January 1, 2013. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel in Big Spring. Interment to follow at Trinity Memorial Park, Big Spring.J.B. was born on July 27, 1934, in Brownfield, the youngest of eleven children. He is survived by his sister, Christine Studer of Lubbock and his brothers, Elbert Shewmake and wife, Wynona of Mesquite and Marvin Shewmake of Salt Lake City, Utah. He married Patsy Jean Wheless in 1954 at First Baptist Church in Tarzan, who preceded him in death in 1986. A grandson, James Nicholas, went before him in 1995.J.B. graduated from Loop High School, attended Hardin Simmons University, and graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Through the years, he served as a pastor at various churches across Texas, most recently with Travis Baptist Church in Midland. He also held a variety of positions, including the owner of the Little Dutchman store in Tarzan and later, the Good Music Store in Big Spring. A life-time lover of all types of music and instruments, Rev. Shewmake played piano for his last worship service on Christmas Eve of 2012. A devout Christian, he used every opportunity to witness to those who were seeking Christ and had ears to hear.
