J. B. Buckner, 93, of Big Spring, died on Monday, March 14, 2005, in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 16, 2005 at the Midway Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Binnix, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Colorado City Cemetery.Mr. Buckner was born on February 23, 1912, in Snyder, Texas, to Tom and Carrie Buckner. He married Edna Christine Fortenberry on December 15, 1934 and she preceded him in death on September 8, 1971. He later married Arlene Huntziker on March 3, 1973 in Big Spring.J. B. worked for Col-Tex Refinery in Colorado City before moving to Big Spring and going to work for Cosden where he retired in 1974 with 32 years of service. He helped build Oak Street Baptist Church in Colorado City and the new santuary and parsonage for Midway Baptist Church in Big Spring. He loved camping, gardening, reading and playing dominoes. He was a member of Midway Baptist Church for thirty-eight years.Survivors include his wife, Arlene Buckner of Big Spring; four daughters, Yvonne Clark and husband, Wayne of Lubbock, Sue Burkhart of Lubbock, Mickey Roland of Phoenix, Arizona, and Betty Martin and husband, Terry of Las Vegas, Nevada; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Curtis Buckner; four sisters, Madge Mathers, Susie Walraven, Allie Alsobrook, and Dorothy Moore.
