Iva Jaye Roberts of Big Spring, Texas, went to be with our Lord on September 4, 2023. A resident for 51 years, Jaye loved her west Texas neighbors and town. Her passions were family and quilting. She shared her love of family just like she did her quilts giving to each and every person that came into her life. God is her guiding light and one of her many favorite verses: Psalm 23.
Jaye was born in Rising Star, in Eastland County, Texas, on December 24th, 1938 to parents Earl Lee Baker and Zelma Louise Starritt Baker. She was blessed with an identical twin sister, and six other siblings. She was the last remaining sibling.
Jaye married the love of her life Charles Edward Roberts Sr., on May 1, 1955, in Peacock, Texas. They were blessed with four children of their own: Shirley, Chuck, Mike, and David. After living in Peacock, and Sweetwater, the couple moved their family to Big Spring. She was a homemaker and a longtime member of Midway Baptist Church where she volunteered her time on many occasions.
Jaye is survived by three sons: Charles (Chuck) Roberts, Jr. and wife Kathy, of Odessa, Michael (Mike) Roberts and wife Jenna, of Amarillo, and David Roberts of Port Lavaca; son-in-law Tim Greenfield of Big Spring and 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, daughter Shirley Greenfield; her sisters: Louise Conejo, Ila Mae Roberts, Patsy Jean Day, and Joann King and her brothers J.C. Baker, Melvin Baker and Lee Roy Baker.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Friday, September 8, 2023 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, September 9, 2023 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Rev. Mike Seay, pastor at Midway Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Charles Roberts III, Rusty Trowbridge, Marty Roberts, Joshua Roberts, James Boudreau Jr., and Tommy Scott. Honorary Pallbearers will be R. L. Roberts, Roy Roberts, Cody Gentry, Tyler Boudreau and Maverick Yanez.
