Irwin L. Ward went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 3, 2008. His wife, Jackie, and best friend, Dale Walker, were at his side. He had been in Lamun-Lusk-Sanchez Texas State Veterans Home for several years. Graveside funeral services will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Midland, at his son Ronnie's grave, at 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 10, 2008 with Chaplain Walter McCall with Compass Hospice, officiating.He was born on February 17, 1928, in Sidney, Texas and married Jackie Grace in July 1983 in Midland, Texas.He had lived in Ballinger for 15 years, before moving to Stanton in 2004. Irwin worked as an electrician for Northern Natural Gas, retiring in 1975. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Stanton and had served as a deacon. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. Survivors include his wife, Jackie Ward of Big Spring; one son, Gregg Ward of Weatherford; one daughter, Linda Pruitt and husband, Donnie of Midland; one step son, Brad Johnson and wife, Debbie of Stanton; one step daughter, Jade Cook and husband, Omer of Garden City; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Ronnie Ward.
