Irvin Myrick, 100, of Stanton, died on Sunday, December 8, 2002 in Shallowater, Texas. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 11, 2002 at First Baptist Church Stanton with, Rev. David Harp, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. He was born on March 5, 1902 in Scurry County, Texas and married Ida Walker on January 7, 1923 in Colorado City, Texas. She preceded him in death on August 18, 1977. In 1902, when Irvin was still an infant, his father moved the family in covered wagons from Scurry County to Mitchell County. Shortly after they moved to New Mexico, and then moved back to Mitchell County where the family lived in a half dug out on the prairie until their home was built. In 1923 they moved to the Courtney Community in Martin County where Irvin farmed until around 1993. In December of 2000 he went to live with his granddaughter, Sharon in Shallowater. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include three sons, James L. Myrick and Larry R. Myrick both of Stanton and Rodney E. Myrick of Lampasas; one daughter, Merideth McCulloch of Lockney; one sister, Myrtle Stewart of Stanton; 14 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and four sisters. The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorials be made to Lottie Moon Missions %First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1168, Stanton, Texas 79782. The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 10, 2002 from 6 PM to 7:30 PM at the funeral home. Arrangements under the direction of Gilbreath Funeral Home.,
