Irma Metsch, 93, of Midland, passed away on Friday, April 15, 2005, in a local nursing home. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, April 22, 2005 at the St. Nicholas Episcopal Church in Midland with Rev. Jon Stasney , officiating. She was born in Chicago on July 26, 1911. She met her husband Edward Metsch in the early 30's and they married in the mid 30's. Irma and Edward had a wonderful life together in Chicago until his passing in 1965. Irma moved to Midland in 1967 to be close to her sister. She worked for various families caring for their children and keeping their homes. She worked until the mid seventies when she retired. After Irma's retirement she corresponded with several individuals that were either mentally or physically challenged and through her letters touched many lives. She remained independent until her health began to fail at the age of 92. She resided at Terrace West Nursing home until her death. During her stay in the nursing home her personality won the hearts of many who worked there. Survivors include one sister, Evelyn Nitsch of Midland; two nieces, Betsy Ritter and Ann Furnas; one nephew, Chip Nitsch. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward Metsch and her parents Otto and Anna Peterson. In leiu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to: Hospice of Midland, P.O.
