Iris Caldwell Tubb, 92, of Midland slipped peacefully from this life into the next surrounded by her family on the morning of Thursday, September 11, 2014. A visitation will be held from 5:00pm-7:00pm Sunday, September 14, 2014 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Monday, September 15, 2014 at 10:00am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 4805 Gateway Street, Midland, TX. Interment will follow at Serenity Memorial Gardens.Iris was born on January 21, 1922 in Vernal, Utah to Horace and Edna Caldwell. She met the love of her life, Thomas Craig Tubb, in San Diego, California while they were both working at a factory making aircraft parts during World War II. Iris and Tommy were married on July 16, 1943. Eventually the couple moved to Big Spring before finally settling in the Greenwood and Midland areas. Together the couple raised four children, Sandra, Ellen, Craig, and Wayne. On December 13, 2010, Thomas passed away at the age of 88.Iris lived a life of service both to her family and to those around her. Whenever she saw a person in need, she was there to help. She loved volunteering to help adults learn to read and spent many hours working on genealogy. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints her entire life. She and Tommy served an eighteen-month mission for the church and considered it one of the greatest highlights of their lives. Iris loved to travel and was a talented artist. She was a humble, hard-working, generous lady who will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.Iris is preceded in death by her parents, Horace and Edna Caldwell; siblings, Clive Caldwell, Larson Caldwell and Melba Stevens; husband, Thomas Tubb; and son, Craig Tubb.She is survived by her daughters, Sandra (Sandy) Tubb of Midland, Texas and Ellen Anderson of Frisco, Texas; son, Wayne Tubb and wife, Gwynne of McDonough, Georgia; grandchildren, Justin Tubb (Rose) of Midland, Lori Guerrero (Robert) of Frisco; Steve Anderson (Emily) of Orem, Utah, John Anderson of Salt Lake City, Utah, Julie Anderson of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Jen Anderson (Allan) of Campbell, California, Chris Anderson of Frisco, Aaron Tubb (Cecilia) of Fuqua Varina, North Carolina, and Mason Tubb of Sandy Springs, Georgia; and great-grandchildren, John Robert Guerrero, Asher Guerrero, Lila Guerrero, Holden Anderson, Charlotte Anderson, Milo Anderson, Ryan Tubb, Harrison Tubb, and Morgan Tubb.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
