Ione Graue, 97, of Midland, was called home by her Lord on Thursday, September 23rd. Services will be Saturday, October 9th at 2:00 pm at Grace Lutheran Church, where she was the oldest member of her congregation.
Ione was born on October 4, 1923 in Eureka Township, Minnesota to Walter and Ethel Bacon. She grew up and remained living in Minnesota until retiring with 25+ years of service to her community in Jackson, Minnesota as the Deputy Registrar. Her last relocation was to Midland where she enjoyed living next to her daughter, family gatherings and watching all the grandchildren grow up.
Ione, or “little grandma” as the family will always remember her, made the best homemade chocolate milkshakes and caramel corn. Her favorite hobby was crocheting and knitting. She has made more doilies and afghans than we can count. Before settling down in Midland, Ione and her husband, Orville, enjoyed many years of travel throughout the United States in their fifth wheel camper.
Ione is survived by her daughter, Neta Gohr of Midland, Texas. Grandchildren Neil Gohr and his wife Tracie of Hobbs, New Mexico; Nanci Castillo and her husband Jose of Madison, Alabama; Kris Curtis and her husband Rod of Midland; and Kevin Gohr and his wife Ami of Midland. Ione is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
Ione is preceded in death by husband, Orville Graue; son-in-law Ken Gohr, and brother Burnell Bacon.
The family would like to express their gratitude towards Hospice of Midland, Texas Home Health, and Angels Care Home Health.
Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland. Online condolences may be made at www.npwelch.com.
