Imogene Harrison Banks, 84, of Midland, TX, passed away on Nov 29th, 2023. A visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Monday, Dec 4th at Nalley-Pickle & Welch, 3800 N Big Spring St, Midland, TX. Services will be at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, Dec 5th at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Chapel.
Imogene was born in Hogansville, GA on September 22, 1939, to Myrtie and Jessie Harrison. She spent her childhood in Hogansville and graduated from Hogansville High School in 1956. In 1962, she married Joe D Banks of Midland, TX. Her and the tall Texan settled in Newnan, GA where they raised 4 children, Marshall, James, Lee, and Jessica. They remained in Newnan until 1980 when they moved to Midland, TX. Throughout her life, she enjoyed many family vacations, camping trips, little league, and softball games. Imogene worked most of her life at various places, but much of her career was with MISD, where she worked until retirement. She enjoyed dancing and participated in clogging, square dancing, line dancing, and country western. Imogene was a gentle, quiet soul but was not one to be pushed around.
She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 62 years, Joe Banks. Son Marshall and wife Nandy Banks of Midland, TX, son Lee and wife Mitzy Banks of Mckinney, TX, daughter Jessica & husband Doug Rogers of Mckinney, TX, sister, Betty Waller of Prattville, AL, 9 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents Jessie and Myrtie Harrison, sister Frances Gaddy, brother Ernie Harrison, and son James Banks.
The family would like to express their gratitude towards the staff at Legacy Ranch, as well as Hospice, and her personal caregiver Gabby, for their gentle and caring support when needed.
