Ilene Beverly Pitts Kistrup, 95, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2017 in Midland, Texas. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 10:00 am at St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church in Metairie, Louisiana with memorial service following at 11:00 am at St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church in Metairie, Louisiana.Beverly was the oldest of three children born to Signa and Lon Pitts, August 2, 1921, in Hill City, South Dakota. She graduated in 1942 as a Registered Nurse from St. Luke’s School of Nursing School, Denver, Colorado. She also received a certificate in Public Health Nursing from the University of Colorado. During World War II Beverly worked as an Industrial Nurse at Rocky Mountain Arsenal in Denver, Colorado. While working at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal, she met and married Army Captain Raymond Thomas Kistrup on June 30, 1945. After the war, his job as a chemical engineer took them to New Jersey, Texas, Colorado, and Louisiana. They had been married 65 years at the time of his death. Beverly was an active member of P.E.O. for many years in Louisiana. She and Ray were active participants in round and square dancing clubs.She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Kistrup; her parents, Signa and Lon Pitts; her two brothers, James Pitts and his wife Sarah, Robert Pitts and his wife Anita; her two sisters-in-law, Dorothea Kistrup Reihl and husband Peter, Ella Kistrup Dordahl and husband Arne; and her son-in-law, Robert Vest.Beverly is survived by a son, Bruce Kistrup and his wife Claudia of Denham Springs, Louisiana and a daughter, Karen Vest, of Midland, Texas. She has five grandchildren Mattson Kistrup of Camas, Washington, Keri Kistrup of Denham Springs, Louisiana, Kimberly Vest Gardner (Nathaniel) of Apex, North Carolina, Sara Vest Dunnam (Matt) of Midland, Texas, and Thomas Vest of Bakersfield, California and three great-grandchildren Cassandra, Whitcomb, and Holton Gardner.The family wishes to thank the staff of Manor Park's Younger Center and Hospice Midland.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
