Ida B. Gentry, 83, of Midland passed away at her home on November 29, 2009 surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel with Chaplain Larry Hood of Home Hospice officiating and Rev. W.C. Kenan of Faith Temple assisting. Ida was born on September 1, 1926 to James and Elvira Johnson in Giddings, Texas. She has spent most of her life in Midland, working in the food service industry and most recently for MISD. She was a good friend to all and especially to her community on Lincoln Street. Ida devoted her life to raising her children and was proud of her family. She was a Baptist. Survivors include five daughters, Ida Dorn of Midland, Rita Young of Dallas, Eddie Marie Young of Dallas, Tonya Gentry of Midland and Lillie Ann Hill of Spring, TX; a brother, Willie Lee Johnson of Midland; grandchildren, Melvon Anders, Dwight Anders, Reginald Anders, Terrance Meekins, Teresa Meekins, Nobert Hill, Gerri Hill, Sterling Young III, Jeremy Young and Hayley Young; and 27 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Ernestine Rankin, and 3 brothers, Jessie Johnson, Levi Johnson and Javance (Hookie) Johnson.
