Hugh Duncan, 97, of Big Spring, died on Monday, January 28, 2002, at the Marcy House. Graveside funeral services with Masonic Rites will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 30, 2002, at the the Peace Chapel at Trinity Memorial Park with Dr. David Ring, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. He was born on December 10, 1904 in Neuville, Texas and married Gerene Craig on January 4, 1930 in Big Spring, Texas. Hugh graduated from Roscoe High School in 1923 and later from Drahans Business College in Abilene. He came to Big Spring in 1927 and went to work for Texas Electric Service Company, retiring on December 31, 1969. He worked in many different capacities throughout his career, retiring as division accounting manager. In addition to Big Spring, he also worked in Midland, Odessa and as the general audit manager in Fort Worth. After retiring, he turned to his hobby of woodcraft. Hugh also enjoyed playing golf and fishing. Mr. Duncan was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church and the Men's Bible Class. He joined the Masonic Lodge in 1927 and was a member of Staked Plains Lodge #598 A.F. & A.M. and had received his 72 year pin. He was also a member of the Lubbock Consistory of the Scottish Rite and the Suez Shrine Temple in San Angelo. Hugh was a charter member of the American Business Club. Survivors include his wife, Gerene Duncan of Big Spring; one son, Craig Duncan of Big Spring; and two sisters, Helen Olive of Tampa, Florida and Maxine Doman of Oak Harbor, Washington.
