Howard Lee Fanning, Sr. passed away on Saturday, April 10, 2021. He was born to John Wesley Fanning and Edith Faye Lawtum on November 20, 1936. He is survived by his sons Howard Lee, Jr of Nashville, AR and Michael David of Mansfield, TX and his daughter Wendy Anne Smith of Highland, MI as well as six grandchildren, Annalee Fanning, Reed W. Fanning, Parker Fanning, Taylor Fanning, Joshua Smith and Justin Smith.
Mr. Fanning served in the US Army for 19 years with 12 years of active duty with the final rank of major. He volunteered for two tours of duty in Vietnam where he was awarded four bronze stars as well as many other decorations. After leaving the Army he was a regional manager at Orkin Pest Control in San Angelo, TX. He enjoyed hunting and fishing all his life. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge.
Mr. Fanning will be interred on May 13th at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio with military honors.
