Graveside funeral services for Homer Lee Williford, Sr. will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, August 1, 2008 at the Trinity Memorial Park Peace Chapel with Chaplain Dean Thomas, officiating.Homer Lee was born June 24, 1927 and raised in the Austin area. He served his country by enlisting in the United States Navy, and was proud to have been a World War II veteran. After the militiary, he returned to Austin for a short while. It was there he met his first wife, Evelyn Francis Hutcheson of Big Spring. He became the proud father of two future "Steer" graduates. Lee and Susan were his shining achievements.Having settled here, he became a loyal employee of Cosden Refinery in 1948, just one day after his 21st birthday. He was proud to have been a part of Cosden and retired in 1984, after 36 years of service.Once retired he returned to the Austin area, with his second wife, Joyce Williford. He returned to live in Big Spring twice before deciding that this was home in 2005.At the time of his passing Homer Lee was residing at Lamun-Lusk-Sanchez Texas State Veterans Home. He passed peacefully on July 28th, 2008.Leading him to the hereafter were his mother and father; an infant brother; his sister, Zella Mae Sheperd; his nephew, Vernon Andrew Blewett, his son-in-law, James Martin Barber and a granddaughter, Dalana Louise (Roberts) Barber.Left behind, to miss him are his ex-wife, Evelyn Williford Redman and his son, Homer Lee Williford, Jr. both of Big Spring; his daughter, Susan Barber of Coahoma; ten grandchildren, Todd Coker, Angela Coker, Spencer Coker, Corbett Williford, Harmony Williford and husband Greg, Tammy Barber and husband Shane, Teana Roberts-Demeny and husband, Tommy, Brooke Barber Grant and husband Ronnie, Kala Mann and Jerry Ray Mann, II; 19 great grandchildren; three brothers, H. B. Williford of Austin, Barry Williford of Brownville and Tommy Williford of Seaton; one sister, Louise Lawrence of Midland and his nieces and nephews in and around the Austin area.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
