Hisako Sasaki Futrell, 90, born June 15, 1935, in Tokyo, Japan, passed away Sunday, September 14, 2025, in her home in Midland, TX.
In 2013, Hisako finally retired from working as a bartender at the Petroleum Club of Midland after 42 years of employment. She met many people who absolutely loved her and her witty ways, including President George W. Bush and his wife Laura.
Hisako loved many things, including fishing, traveling, gambling, cooking, baking, crocheting, and telling everyone exactly what she thought. There was never a dull moment when she was around. Everyone knew her as the glue, and the hardest working woman, who was admired by all.
She is survived by her daughter, Clara Satterfield, and her two grandchildren Shawn Scott of Midland, and Hope Gilbert also of Midland. She is also survived by her other daughters Carolyn Quine and Patricia Wingo, both of Midland; her grandchildren Jacob Quine and wife Amanda, Kristin and Carson Machen, Kaitlin Merriam, Koleton Wingo, Brandon and Paige Jordan, Scott and Lorinda Futrell, and Michael Quine; many great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Donald Dee Futrell, Chase Quine, and Gary-Don Futrell.
Pallbearers for the service will be Ryan Fennell, Jr., Michael Quine, Carson Machen, Brandon Reyes, Matt Edwards, Shawn Scott, Scott Futrell, and Koleton Wingo.
The family would like to express their deep gratitude to Hospice of Midland, Triple L, hospital staff, and many friends and family members.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, September 18th, from 6pm to 8pm at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 19th, at 11am at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland.
